| | So, life has been interesting the past few years for me. I have gone through rougher times than I have personally experienced thus far. Planning a wedding, getting used to the married life, and working a job that I never liked very much and at times hated with passion wore on me so that I felt very often like I had no passion and that I was always going to be too emotionally and physically tired to give to my wife or ministries that I was involved in. Turns out, now that I have been working as the Youth and Music Ministries Coordinator at my church (www.maumeevalleychurch.net/staff.htm) for the past two weeks after volunteering for a year and being part time in my "free" time for another year and a half. Those were a rough 2 1/2 years for me but it seems to have paid off.
I really REALLY love my new job. I mainly wanted something I could get up and be excited about and do it with all my energy and still having enough money to not starve in the process. This works for me! I love to get to know people and make a difference in people's lives. This is just the beginning, too. I have been reading "The Purpose Driven Youth Ministry" and I highly recommend it to anyone working with youth. It does an excellent job of showing good strategies for a healthy ministry and more importantly the WHY of youth ministry.
I do have to admit that I am a little ashamed that I had such a hard time fighting depression and feelings of worthlessness in the preceeding years. I should have been able to trust God and His timing, but I felt like I was on the edge of all these things and couldn't get past the hump. Wedding, ministry, etc. It all seemed like I was spinning my tires and going in circles. I suppose I could just make sure to learn from it and trust God in future issues and REAL crises that are guaranteed to crop up someday...
PS, I've been creating my first website ever for the Youth Group I'm leading. Check out my progress at http://www.maumeevalleyyouth.net. God bless, all!
